Bryce David Hansen

Bryce was born on August 8, 2000. He lived in West Deptford with his parents Judy and Jeff and his three older brothers Jeffrey, Andrew and Justin.

Bryce was an energetic an healthy little boy filled with much life. Sadly, on Father’s Day, June 16, 2002, Bryce was diagnosed with a brain tumor. With the help and support of family and friends, we were able to be with Bryce as he spent nine months of his short life receiving intensive chemotherapy treatments at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He considered CHOP his home, where he received the very best care.

Bryce enjoyed spending time with his brothers, singing, being read to, playing with his toys, taking walks and was a big “Bob the Builder” fan. He also carried a little backpack filled with his favorite things. He enjoyed looking out the front window of our home watching his brothers take the bus to and from school. Bryce loved to sing along to his favorite song “The wheels on the bus go round and round.”

It was Bryce’s wish to ride a school bus. On March 4, 2003, Make-A-Wish New Jersey made his wish come true. H.A. DeHart & Son Bus Company picked Bryce, Mom, Dad, and brothers, Jeffrey, Andrew, Justin and Grandmom up and took us for a ride around our town, passing the schools in our district and going through the drive-thru at McDonalds. Bryce was presented with little school buses, balloons and a certificate. You could see the excitement on Bryce’s face and how happy he was to be on the yellow school bus and especially to have his brothers with him. It is a day we will never forget, memories that we hold forever in our hearts.

We are a grateful family to Make-A-Wish New Jersey. A wonderful organization that made a fun day for Bryce and our family exceptional!
